No, the Calanques national park is not closed this summer!

Summer is approaching, and many of you are keen to discover the wonders of the Parc National des Calanques. So it's important to know how to get there, because contrary to popular belief, the Calanques are not closed in summer! We tell you all about access conditions.

Here are the two main things you need to know to plan your visit to the calanques:

From June 3rd to October 1st, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., access roads to the calanques of Sormiou, Morgiou and Callelongue are closed.

So how do you get there? You can either go in cooler weather - before 7am or after 7pm - or use public transport and your legs! RTM buses 20, 22 and 23 will take you to the start of the trails, and then all you have to do is walk down (and back up!) to the calanques (between 30 and 50 min.). If you've scheduled an activity with Active Road (climbing, via cordata, paddle, hiking, mountain biking...), don't worry! Our guides have access passes and will open the doors of the calanques for you.

From June 1st to September 30th, access to forest areas in the Bouches-du-Rhône region is regulated to protect visitors and the environment from the risk of fire.

So how can you stay informed? Simply check the day before your visit, after 6pm, to see whether access to the Parc National des Calanques is authorized (green or yellow) or prohibited (red). The quickest and most practical way to do this is to download the Mes Calanques application.

In short, the calanques are not closed in summer, they are open and regulated. The only exception is the Sugiton calanque, which is subject to reservation.

See you soon on the trails!
