This is the largest canyon in Europe. It forms a natural border between the Var and the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. This canyon is located between the towns of Castellane and Moustiers Sainte-Marie. This huge and dramatic flaw is about 50 km long and reaches a depth of 700m in some places. As to its width, it varies between 100 and 1500m. This Mother Nature masterpiece result of the erosion of the Verdon river, whose waters flow perpetually at the base of limestone cliffs.
In the Verdon Gorges, the lovebirds will live an unforgettable experience in the heart of unspoilt nature, the beautiful scenery is breathtaking. Visiting this paradise can be done in different ways. For example, there are two road trips. The first route runs along the right bank to the north, from Castellane to Moustiers-Sainte-Marie on the D952 road. The second is located on the left bank south, starting from Aiguines to Castellane reach by road D71, D90 and D995. Moreover, countless hiking trails are set in the Verdon Gorges. The most famous of those trails are Imbut, Fishermen, the Bastidon or Rancoumas from the Tusset bridge.
Regarding activities to provide in the Verdon Gorges, honeymooners enthusiasts for physical sports will be spoiled. Indeed, no less than 1 500 climbing routes are listed at the heart of this exceptional natural site. For information, some of them are strictly forbidden access to protect nesting places of vultures. Besides climbing, canoeing, paragliding, rafting, bungee jumping, canyoning and base jump are also other activities to do in the Verdon Gorges.
