We met the Clean My Calanques team.

As an incoming agency dedicated to active and responsible tourism, we welcome and support the initiative of Clean my Calanques.

On a beautiful sunny Sunday we came to help them; in only two hours we collected 83 bags of rubbish.

Sunday 6th September, 2pm at the Roucas Blanc beach, such was the appointment. We were all equipped with gloves and garbage bags and about a hundred volunteers were ready to fight. The objective was to clean the Roucas Blanc Beach to welcome the famous Monte Cristo Challenge. The biggest sea race in Europe linking the Château d'If to the Prado beaches. This challenge was inspired by the romantic escape of Edmond Dantes, who was imprisoned on the island of If, and to this day welcomes more than 5,500 swimmers, all events combined, and more than 3,500 spectators.

Making this clean-up proved to be a major challenge, the further we got, the more we discovered the extent of the damage. It proved to be such a challenge, the further we got, the more we discovered the extent of the damage, so much so that we had to stop after a few hours because the volunteers were so exhausted. One of the active members of the association told us that it was the first time he had come across such a "disgusting" site, where you couldn't see the end of it... "much worse than the previous collection session in Callelongue" he said. The CMY team therefore decided to schedule another meeting dedicated to the same beach on Sunday 12 September.

This day (in addition to the others) was also intended to awaken awareness in Marseilles, and the gamble paid off! Families, groups of friends, children, elderly people, students, passers-by... each came from their own horizons and all answered the association's call! Congratulations to them for having federated the people of Marseille. We are in a good position to know that organising such events is a serious undertaking and is highly regulated by the local authorities. This is why we would like to salute their initiative, which is in fact meticulous and seems to perfectly match the expectations of the decision-makers.

In addition to organising hikes to clean up creeks, they work hand in hand with waste recovery companies such as Recyclope or Sauvage Méditerranée. But not only that... They also regularly set up awareness-raising workshops in schools in order to reach young people. It is a citizen initiative that wants to highlight ecotourism.

Our vision of tourism

Active Road shares the same ideals as Clean my Calanques, namely to promote sustainable, active and accessible tourism. These words are certainly familiar to you due to the excesses of GreenWashing: they regularly feed into the communication campaigns of all companies sensitive to consumer trends.

Sustainable tourism is the concept that underpins all the activities and holidays that we offer. After several years, our history has led us to promote the natural and cultural heritage of our region thanks to a selection of the best professionals. All our activities are based on the triptych which is the component of sustainable tourism: economic, social and environmental.

Concerning the first component, we are developing a soft, local and structured economy in order to extend seasonality and one day be able to work all year round. One of the levers is to promote the stay in order to transform the excursionist into a traveller. Our social aspect is to perpetuate employment by accompanying, advising and creating a long-lasting and trusting relationship with each of our service providers. Finally, for the environmental component, we do not sell any motorised activities and we make sure to raise awareness and awaken our travellers. Moreover, this Wednesday we had an appointment on the Friuli archipelago with the National Park in order to adapt our activities to the new measures put in place.

As you will have understood, we are children of the region and wish to share with you our passion for the southern region. We would like to teach you how to travel in the Calanques National Park while respecting the new access restrictions. We put all our know-how at the service of those with whom we exchange.

We are much more than an agency, we have the ambition to become an ethical ambassador for our region!
